He Killed IT!

This is a picture of my hubby the tree killer!!! Tis' the season to prune trees, and everyone around has been hiring out or doing it themselves. So Dan went to town on the PEACH tree in the backyard with his shears I BOUGHT him. He is pretty confident about his job--I am NOT!
You see, I am very protective of this tree. It produces quite a few peaches each summer. This year I learned how to can and jam those peaches, and even bought the equipment. I was looking forward to totally doing it on my own this year, until I walked out on the deck a few weekends ago and saw this (don't be fooled by the trees in the background--those are NOT branches on my tree at the top)! I was SOOO UNHAPPY!
Dan says I can complain all I want when the tree actually does not produce. I think he has alot of praying to do since he knows NOTHING about pruning!

Besides, even if it produces fruit I need SHADE for these Arizona summers!!! Since I take care of the outside as well...I guess I am protective of it all. You win some and lose some, I guess. We'll keep you posted on the progress of the peaches!

BTW our back sprinkler system pipe burst (the front one already had), and we even had it covered. They say it is because it is such a cold winter and we live down by the river where it freezes easier. I just say it is an expensive winter!

don't be too sure it is dead yet; I have thought the same thing before after Doug has done some pruning...the pecan tree we had in our front yard of our other house was truly a miracle tree!
I always get upset because Doug prunes our bushes and cuts off the flowers (so maybe it's in the genes!) none of our flowering bushes ever get any...or if they do, they don't last very long! But I decided that I'm glad that he cares enough to take care of the yard, and one other question you might want to ask yourself...I have heard this used in other situations, but perhaps it will apply here:
what is more important...peaches or the relationship???
Happy Decisions...have faith in miracles!
Love you both! MOM S

Alicia,
That tree looks like a tree ought to look when it has been pruned. The husband of one of my best friends (Barbie-you met her at Dallin's baby blessing) in Auburn does professional tree care, and that peach tree of yours looks much like my favorite tree at my mother's looked when her husband got done with it. I was heartbroken! I thought for certain that he'd killed the tree. But, it is now even more beautiful than it was before, and it produces TONS of plums. Just like people, trees often become their best after a major pruning!
