picking her own picture poses & accessories

( the pictures below were taken on a different day... notice the leotard still)
AND she plays with some of my old PRETTY PONIES (from when I was a little girl)

IT IS sugar and spice and everything nice!

What a WEEKEND!!!!

The Verde Valley Concert Association called Dan and I before Christmas and ask us to be the housing coordinators for the BYU young ambassadors, who were scheduled to perform on their spring tour here in Cottonwood. For those who do not know what the young ambassadors are: They are a singing, dancing, acting troupe (Broadway) of sorts. They are very talented and go through grueling try-outs (over 250 people to only 20).
Being an advocate of the "arts" (especially when it is considered a "cool" thing for the males!)and having been on the BYU folkdance team, I absolutely agreed to help something like this take place in our tiny town. Because Dan is so busy at work the task fell on my lap. Since then, I have found myself busy getting homes, emailing, calling, getting tickets, sending out letters, etc., etc.WELL the NIGHT FINALLY ARRIVED!
BUT before we could go we had to CLEAN THE HOUSE-that about killed my pelvic bone, AND THEN take the other kids to a babysitter, and meet up with some other group date couples at Panda Express!
Dan, Colton, Sterling and I..including a group of our friends, went and saw them perform.
Afterwards, we housed and fed 2 of the male team members (in fact one of them is the very guy on the front cover of the program with his arms out singing--he was the Young Ambassador President). We stayed up late talking about marriage and eating treats after the performance, and had strawberry french toast the next morning. We sadly had to pack them lunches and get them to their bus at 9am. They were a dynamic duo and Dan was relieved that we got "the good ones" as he puts it! ha ha
SOOO After cleaning all day and partying all night...
oh what do you do on a Saturday?
Steal Dad's ipod to listen to your favorite song- black eyed peas "tonight's gonna be a good night"
AND GO FISHING, and TO FEED THE DUCKS at our neighborhood duck pond

It was such a nice spring day out!
We got some good wind, but were grateful to get some of the fun in before the rain hit the next day.
While the boys lacked interest in fishing with a real rod and daddy...
Dacie was enamored to fish with her dad. She kept fighting for more turns to help him and rarely left his side!

The boys preferred this log/stick with a thick rope, paper clip and cheez nips as their mode of fishing...how funny are they?
They spent almost the entire time finding and making their own rod-which we now keep in our garage! ha ha

We did not catch a thing...but really did not care!
It was fun being as a family
and being near water!
Later that afternoon I capitalized on a birthday gift I got back in October from Dan
A MASSAGE and PEDICURE!
The timing could not have been more perfect for me. I had really had a busy week and the baby had dropped..I was feeling emotionally and physically worn.
For the pedicure I got blue sparkly polish for our impending BOY arrival!
After the massage...I have not hurt a bit!
There is wisdom in homeopathic methods!
I was absolutely in heaven
To make the MAKE-OVER complete I went and got my hair highlighted and bangs cut today from a new friend I found out has a salon in her home at Camp Verde!
I always feel so much prettier after
MY BELLY at 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant!!
I can officially have the baby now that I have been "pampered"!!!

A Closer Look at... THE CAR

So I KNOW you are dying to get a closer look at the actual pinewood derby...
WELL, here is a photo shoot of the car (compliments of Dan the formula one obsessed- ha ha) before we added the weights (my childhood marble collection came in handy for this--Dan has now officially stopped complaining that we have carried it around in all our moves) and some more color the following night
Despite my teasing of Dan, I believe he has legitimate bragging rights considering he did it all by hand or with a tiny hand held dremel!

Concerts and Derby's and Bedtimes...OH MY!!

So last night was one of our BUSIER nights FOR SURE!!
~
Colton's extracurricular school choir had their BIG concert (and I left my camera sitting on the computer-so the program will have to do).
The choir has begun to get a little bit more popular and they have 40 singers. The choir leader has little parental support (except the regulars who are trying to run the PTO, and volunteering in the classes, field trips, etc. so they have little to give)
~
BUT despite the lack of help the choir director decided to put on a full on anti-drug production with lights, fog machines, microphones, choreography, singing, parts, etc. It was a CUTE show BUT with large numbers and her doing it solo ..it was very beginner and you had to look and listen past allot!
HOWEVER we enjoyed watching Colton show no emotion (he is not a performer) but do everything absolutely precise...even to the point he was counting on his hand the number of speakers who gave their parts before him!
He got to stand on a ladder most the time (I think it is because he was one of the only ones who would not wiggle or talk his way off of it by accident!)
He also had a performance earlier that day too!
*Cara and John came to it too. Thank heavens, because Uncle John was the "toys" and ended up entertaining the kids in the back of the gym. I did however look back to find Dacie dangling in the air, by one arm off of the full size school basketball hoop...thanks to Uncle Johns throwing abilities!!!!
~
So we went straight from there and ran over to the church for Colton's pinewood derby!
I was so proud of these two (Dan and Colton)...they were up late the night before the derby putting on weights and painting! Dan gave up his lunches to run to the post office and practice run on the track!
Colton running on the left
Colton running on the right

Colton's winning car on the left
the brackets
Ryland and McKell cheering on the derbies
Colton right
Colton finally losing to some of our favorite people...the Taylors (if you notice Colton closing his eyes hoping to net see his car lose)
Colton won for his bracket (we have quite a LARGE group of boys as we have most of Cottonwood) and went on to the "championships" where we proudly placed 4th our first year running!~ the winning was just a bonus for all the work they put into it!
Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen even scored some serious COOL Grandparent points and drove up from Phoenix, after a long day of work...just to come watch!
~
Our night of obligations finally ended at 9:20pm
The kids were in bed about 10:00pm (after quite a few tears over some serious silly things)
I have NO ENERGY today
and we are grateful for Little Ceaser's $5 pizza!!!!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

The first of March always rolls around and my kiddos get super excited because they know their day to wear pajamas to school is fast approaching. On Tuesday March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's, the famous children's author's, birthday and therefore has been deemed "Read Across America Day".
~
The elementary school always makes it a fun day. The kids obviously get to wear pajamas, and bring stuffed animals, slippers and blankets to school. Then the parents get to come for a breakfast of green eggs and Ham (also wearing pajamas...thank heavens) while watching "Horton hears a Who"...only to go into the kids classes and read with them for an hour. This year was NO EXCEPTION for the Sorensen Household. BUT since there are 2 kids and one of me--Sterling got mom in the class, and I swung by Colton's for a kiss on the way out (after all, I was just in Colton's class all afternoon Friday helping with his class store!). The rest of the day they have "guest" teachers (including the principal) come into all the classes to read them books all day.
Ryland's preschool even got in on the fun and he got to wear pj's and read Dr. Seuss all day too...he LOVES doing ANYTHING like his brothers!
Unfortunately....I forgot my camera that morning! Well, Playgroup landed the day after on March 3rd AND we did not let this opportunity pass us by!!
The kids all made Dr. Seuss hats (out of oatmeal cans, glue, ribbon, paper, and felt) and decorated cupcakes
It had been a rough morning for us so I was not even sure we were going to make it....
BUT we did...and I AM GLAD!

Here is my cute friend Nat and her girls (and of course Dacie's bud, Lily) who headed up the creative playgroup-she always does a FAB job!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS (and UNCLE SCOTT)!

Thanks for giving us another reason to celebrate!
